We have some disappointing news to share. After 4 amazing years, we have decided to shut down the Fashism website and apps at the end of this month. Although you guys are an amazing and engaged community, we have not been able to generate enough revenue to keep Fashism up and running.
We started Fashism four years ago because the internet needed a safe space to get unbiased, excellent advice on fashion and beauty choices. Like many people, we love getting that little extra bit of reassurance on our style choices from peers, whether they be friends, family, or a loving worldwide community of fashionable strangers on the Internet! And that’s exactly what we created.
Getting to work full-time on this company over the last few years has been a dream come true, and obviously it would not have been possible on our own. The entire Fashism team and our group of investors have been absolutely amazing and we are eternally grateful for their support. But most of all, we want to thank all of YOU for helping to create this awesome community. Thank you for posting your photos, revealing your latest finds, showing off your style, giving great advice, and being part of this adventure.

Trend Alert: The Bindi
Bindis have been gaining popularity across the pond as a style statement and have finally started to creep their way into the wardrobes of fashion forward ladies in the States.
Back in the day, bindis were decorations that signified age, status or religion throughout South Asia, specifically India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Now, bindis are still worn throughout South Asia, but have fallen into a much more light-hearted role.
This is not the first time bindis have become a fashion statement in the western world. Back in the 90′s, Gwen Stefani wouldn’t even leave her house without wearing one — most likely due to her relationship with No Doubt band member Tony Kanal. His family was from India and she became very interested in their culture and fashion. Today, celebs such as Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Madonna have been spotted wearing the bindi.
What do you think of bindis becoming an everyday fashion accessory for the hipster crowd?

Trend Alert: Converse and Dresses
In the past, sneakers paired with a skirt or dress was considered a big fashion no-no. However, Miley Cyrus has been spotted numerous times this summer doing just that. Instead of pairing her cute dresses with a chunky pair of running sneakers, she has chosen the thinner Converse sneaker. I love how she decided on a trendy hi-lo dress in the second picture.
Miley is not the only person rockin’ the sneaker/dress trend, I’ve seen numerous fashionistas in both Manhattan and Brooklyn pairing their adorable sundresses with a pair of Chuck’s.
Do you approve of this casual look?

Trend Alert: Floral Pants
Miranda Kerr was spotted wearing adorable floral pants while running errands in New York City over the weekend. There is no denying it, floral pants are a hot item this season, but how do you wear them?
Floral pants come in all different styles: trousers, leggings and even jeans. Once you know the style you want, just pair a simple shirt with it. It’s very easy to over do it. To be safe, a plain black, white or grey top is all you need…just like Miranda!
If you’re short and/or petite, go for floral pants with a smaller print. If you’re tall and have long legs, you can go for the bold floral prints.
If you’re unsure if a pair looks good on you or not, submit it to Fashism!

We are always crushing on stripes and we found some excellent striped favorites for you! The first is Madewell’s Stripes Transmission tee. We love the juxtaposition of blue and purple stripes with a sheer fabric, perfect for summer rendez-vous. Next, we love the cut out shoulders from Nasty Gal’s Brooklyn Stripe Tee. Maybe we’re biased because we live in Brooklyn, but the top does really capture the youthful spirit of our ever-burgeoning borough. The neon pink in Forever 21’s Boxy Tee caught our eye among the traditional nautical tones. The easy dolman style makes it particularly appealing for summer. Lastly we’re featuring our very own Wide Stripe necklace from the Fashism shop. This bold piece is sure to liven up some of your favorite casual Tees.
The New Blazer
The blazer has been a staple of American life for decades. The look emerged as everyday casual wear in the 1920’s and Coco Chanel quickly worked to popularize blazers as a chic option for women. Blazers have held strong as a quintessential closet must-have. Lately, blazers seem to be blossoming from their modern work-wear heritage, delving into creative and quirky territory. Here are some of our favorite unique blazers
How gorgeous is this ASOS River Island blazer? We love the feminine japanese-esque florals and sweet blush color. Pair it with white jeans for maximum summer cuteness.
For a jolt of summer color and style, we love with Turquoise Linen Number from Forever 21. The rich color will complement a summer tan, so roll up the sleeves on this blazer over your flirty summer frocks.
Speaking of summer favorites, we are always down for a nautical trend. This Red Anchor Print Blazer from Forever 21 will pair perfectly with your Navy striped tee and Top Siders.
Flowers in your Hair
The Midsummer Festival may be over, but the sun has yet to set on the floral crown trend. We love a good hair accessory and flowers are no exception. We are humming “Flowers in your Hair” by the Lumineers as we are writing!
We spied a few incredible shots of some great blossom headdresses. This first we spied on Pinterest (are you following us yet?) How lovely are the soft and romantic tones? Next is a flower crown from gla.MAR.ous that will only set you back $30. Not bad for a summer romance waiting to happen. If you are more of a DIY person, here is a tutorial from Who What Wear (those girls always have our back!) Next is an incredible look we spied on Lookbook.nu from user Maddy C. We are kind of obsessed with how she created a charming yet not overly-girly look with a flower crown. Kudos! Lasty, a gorgeous outfit from one of our favorite bloggers, Keiko Lynn! In a field of flowers, Keiko embraces the true glory of the budding trend.
On the 2012 runway, one of the top trends was geometric designs. As you might know, we are pretty nerdy here at Fashism HQ, so we were instantly obsessed with the burgeoning mathematic look.
Harper’s Bazzar gave the full rundown of the trend they termed “Lessons in Geometry.” On the runway, Narciso Rodriguez showed lightning-fabulous separates with bold punches of orange and mint. At Ohne Titel, bright orange color plus stripes create an alluring optical illusion.
Love the trend but can’t quite afford the pret-a-porter price? We’ve got you covered with our Orange Mint Geo Necklace. With the trend’s key colors, this quirky piece will look rad with your favorite summer dresses and silky blouses without blowing your budget at only $25.
We love heart-shaped sunglasses for summer. The trend is obviously nothing new, it’s been an iconic youthful-yet-sexy staple ever since it made a splash in the 1962 film version of Nabokov’s infamous novel “Lolita.”
Heart-Shaped Glasses have had a serious resurgence this season. We spied them on no fewer than 5 A-listers including Lana Del Ray, Avril Lavigne, Drew Barrymore, Katy Perry and Ashley Tisdale.
Lusting after a pair like Humbert Humbert for young Lolita? We’ve got you covered at the Fashism shop! Pick up a killer pair in lipstick red or black! Don’t you love this quirky bride’s use of heart heaped sunglasses we saw on Elizabeth Anne Designs Blog?
